In the wake of Wednesday’s terror attack in London, a former Muslim said liberals need to drop their “apologetic attitude” and call out the religious component to Islamic terrorism.
“It doesn’t matter how nice the liberals are, how accommodating, how obliging they are,” the one thing Islamists want is a Sharia-compliant world, Ayaan Hirsi Ali explained on Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Wednesday.
“Whoever is in their way is their enemy,” women rights activist Ali said. Ali was raised as a Muslim in Somalia but later renounced her Islamic faith.
The liberal mindset that refuses to acknowledge the religious aspect to radical Islamic terrorism is “masochistic and stupid” Ali said and anyone not understanding the objective of their activities should not “be in the business of making legislation.”
Islamic terrorists “don’t go to liberals and say thank you so much, we’ll stop terrorizing you” because those on the left are being sensitive and politically correct, Ali said.
She expounded on the danger of having efforts to reach out peacefully be misinterpreted by Islamists as capitulating to their moral superiority.
Ali generally supported President Trump’s travel ban, but said it was “clumsily” executed, adding that he “should have done it differently” by having more lawyers and experts look at it first.
She related that, as a candidate, Trump had taken the terror threat seriously and called out the radical Islamic ideology. Ali had “no problem” with Trump’s temporary ban on travel from certain countries pending a better system to vet immigrants on their ideology.
“It’s incredibly difficult to vet people coming from [those countries],” she said.
Ali believes Trump’s proud American tone and calling for immigrants to assimilate is the right path to take, cautioning against the apologizing for Western ideals that she has seen.
“That is wrong,” she said. “That is seen as weak and you are inviting aggression if you do that.”
